Japan’s Borders to Fully Reopen – AUDIO

After more than two years of shutting their borders, Japan finally announced to fully reopen the country. It was about time! It was initially only opened to tourists within a tour and accompanied by a guide, however after many criticism, they announced to open to individual tourists too.

Here is a Japanese article on “Yahoo! News Japan.” Japanese news language is usually quite formal, even on a casual news site. Not only grammar but also vocabulary can be very different from conversational Japanese, so it may feel challenging. Therefore, I am pasting below an except from the article, which I edited in a easier language. I am reading this edited version in the audio.

To improve your listening, I recommend to listen to it first without looking at the transcript, then to listen reading the transcript. After looking up the vocabulary you need, listen to it one more time without looking at the transcript. You can also try to read the text out loud yourself. Repetition is the key!

政府は、新型コロナウイルスの水際対策を緩和して、個人の旅行者を受け入れることを発表しました。そのため、近々、添乗員なしの観光が可能になりそうです。見直しの時期について、内閣の関係者は「今年の秋のうちに入国しやすくしたい」と言いました。
